Students will put their scholarships to use at universities and colleges across the country and in industries including everything from automotive and healthcare to engineering and business. HADA finalized the selection of recipients at the end of April 2022 and will distribute scholarship funds to students this summer to cover their upcoming tuitions.
Sixty-five scholarship recipients received news this month of their $2,000 scholarships to use toward the tuition of higher education. The nearly 150 applicants came from all lifestyles and circumstances but have two things in common: their affiliation with a new car dealership and their yearning to continue their education.
“People just don’t realize how much this actually helps,” expressed Rachel Boyette, an employee at Beck and Masten Kia.
“I’m super grateful for this scholarship and being a part of the dealership family.” Boyette has been a warranty administrator for two years at Beck and Masten and attends Lee College with plans to transfer to the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Carter Hidalgo is the son of a service technician at Classic Chevrolet and received the scholarship to put towards his tuition at LeTourneau University. “My dad has always worked to provide us with the best opportunities to do what we want in life,” said Hidalgo. “I’m grateful his career can provide us with this scholarship that will take a load off my chest.” Having already completed a third of his degree while in high school, Hidalgo plans to double major in computer science and cyber security. “It’s an expensive college so I feel very blessed to receive this scholarship to help keep me out of student debt.”
