The economic impact analysis that follows is designed to measure the impacts that all of the above variables will have on the Texas economy. Economic Impact Results The results of this economic assessment include the tangible effects of auto dealers, such as jobs, labor incomes, total economic output, taxes generated, and retail impacts. The analysis goes a step further to measure the more subtle, yet still significant, impacts of philanthropy. Where appropriate, the direct impacts of the model are show- cased. These impacts represent the actual revenues and expendi- tures of auto dealers in Texas. They also serve as the inputs to the IMPLANmodel. The total impacts – direct, indirect, and induced – are all as a result of auto dealers that operate throughout the state. The total impact to the motor vehicle retail sector was $277 billion, contributing 107,000 jobs. Also generating more than $1 billion in economic output, the food and beverage sector is a major beneficiary of auto dealer operations. In total, retail sectors inTexas benefit by $6.2 billion.
