27 SPRING 2015 CLASSIC CHEVROLET EMPLOYEES RAISE $370,000 FOR CHARITY For Classic Chevrolet to be the #1 Volume Chevy dealership in the entire nation for 8 consecutive years, it undoubtedly takes the hard work and dedication of the entire Classic organization. That, in and of itself, is a testament to the focus and loyalty of the Classic employees. But the Classic employees have taken on another responsibility that they tackle with the same enthusiasm – raising money for charity. For many years, the Classic Employees Charity Committee has taken it entirely upon themselves to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local non-profits for an annual fundraiser. And it has become a tradition for Classic Chevrolet owner Tom Durant and his wife, Susan, to personally match the funds raised dollar for dollar. This year, the Classic Employees heldThe SteveThompson Classic (charity golf tournament) which, combined with the Durant’s matching funds, raised an astonishing $370,000 for local non-profit organizations. Seven local charities were invited to the holiday luncheon at Classic Chevrolet where they each received a check for $50,000. In addition to the seven charities, Young Life also received a check for $20,000 as a tribute to Steve Thompson who was very personally involved with the Young Life organization. Five teams, including a team made up of over 2 dozen volunteer Classic employees showed up to participate in the “pull the bus” challenge with the goal of raising $50,000 to help needy children and their families. It should come as no surprise to anyone who knows the determi- nation and spirit that Classic employees bring to anything related to charity…that the Classic team took home the trophy. Classic Chevrolet raised $28,095 specifically for this event (spearheaded by the Preowned Dept. who funded the lion’s share of the war chest). Overall, the 5-team morning event easily exceeded the goal, raising $112,000 to help provide for over 3200 needy families in the local community. Jason Foshea, a team leader said, “What 6 Stones does for our community with our overwhelming support cannot be duplicated. We all have a lot to be thankful for and a LOT to give back to our community for the successes we all enjoy. The lives they change, the folks they graciously help, and the fact that our community is better because of our partnership with them should make every one of you very proud!” And in a very
