10 The Honorable Roger Williams Capitol Hill’s Voice of the Dealer W hen car dealer Jack Williams ran his Chevrolet store just off University Avenue in Fort Worth in the 1960’s, he was known for his honesty, wisdom and friendly nature. A dealer since 1939, Mr. Williams joined other legendary Fort Worth dealers such as Frank Kent, King Charlie Hillard and Mo Meador to establish automotive retailing as one of the most vital industries in north central Texas. Just down the road from Jack Williams Chevrolet was Arling- ton Heights High School. With a reputation for educating some of Tarrant County’s premier leaders and top athletes, AHHS was of particular interest to Jack Williams because that is where his son, Roger Williams, was proving himself academically and on the baseball field. When not working part-time at Jack Williams Chevrolet, Roger Williams was in the formative years of becoming a future leader of the country. After starring for the TCU Horned Frogs baseball team and a stint in the major leagues with the Atlanta Braves, Roger joined his father full-time at the dealership. However, full-time for the
