19 FALL 2015 “Mane Event” fundraiser in 2012, and the event raised over $50,000 for BAHS. After BAHS announced the start of a capital campaign to build a new family center in September of this year, Elswick announced that Community would be supporting that effort with a donation of $100,000 over the next three years. With Elswick as the campaign chair, the overall “Building Hope” campaign raised over $800,000 and the project recently broke ground, with completion anticipated in January 2016. In December of 2015, Wadzinski will be directing and coordinating a dinner theater fundraiser benefitting the Shelter, with the goal of raising an additional $45,000 to furnish the new family center. GCCISD Education Foundation: The GCCISD Education Foundation was founded in 2010, with Elswick serving as the first Board president and Wadzinski serving on the initial Board of Directors as well. Since 2011, Wadzinski has served as the Vice-President of Development, with responsibility for all of the fundraising for the Foundation. Since 2010, the Foundation has provided over $600,000.00 in grants to classroom teachers in GCCISD for innovative class- room teaching programs, and Community has been the largest single corporate donor over that period, with over $47,000.00 in corporate donations. Rotary Club of Baytown A member of the Rotary Club of Baytown since 2006, in 2009 Elswick initiated a new fundraiser for the club, the Shrimp and Catfish Festival. This fundraiser quadrupled the clubs fundrais- ing efforts, and after its sixth year has raised over $700,000 for charity. He was named Rotarian of the Year in 2010, and was the president of the club in 2011. His efforts were recognized by Rotary District 5890 HoustonMetro as he was named Large Club President of the Year in 2011. Elswick has also participated in Living Water trips to Honduras in 2012 and 2014, a week-long trip during which water wells are provided for areas with no source of clean, potable water. Baytown Little Theater: Recognizing the importance of the arts in our community, Community Toyota*Honda*KIA has been a major supporter of the Baytown Little Theater, a 501(c)3 corporation and nationally recognized community theater. Wadzinski has served multiple times on the BLT Board of Directors, and is an honorary Life Member of the BLT. Since 2010, Community has supported the BLT by both underwriting major productions and donating to their capital campaign for the construction of a new theater, with total donations since 2010 in excess of $75,000.00. Baytown Chamber of Commerce “Partners in Education” program: Since 2005, Community has participated in the Baytown Chamber of Commerce “Partners in Education” program, which partners local businesses with GCCISD schools to provide assistance with student programs. Coordinated from 2005 through 2009 by Kim Elswick, and since 2010 by JimWadzinski, each year Community and its employees donate hundreds of volunteer hours as well as funding for perfect attendance awards, COMMUNITY LIVES — CONTINUED ON PAGE 20 “I once heard someone say “Nobody cares about how much you know, until they know how much you care” and I truly believe that.
