43 SPRING 2016 While serving the Texas Hill Country’s transportation needs and acquiring a four year university for Fredericks- burg and the surrounding communities, Tim Crenwelge worked just as effectively as a leader of the Texas Automo- bile Dealers Association. As a twelve year member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Tim was always at the forefront of TADA’s key initiatives. Regard- less of his accomplishments for the association, none has been more important than his creation and ongoing leader- ship for the Texas Dealer Academy, TADA’s young dealer division. Established in 2010 as an education and training program for dealers’ sons and daughters, the program has become one of the most important initiatives in the history of the association. Tim Crenwelge when asked to serve as the trustee and leader of the Academy immediately met with officials of NADA University to create a partnership between the Texas Dealer Academy and NADA to provide a 24/7 on-line instruction for the young dealers who are the future of the Texas Automotive industry. In the five year history of the Texas Academy, Tim Crenwelge has personally vetted speakers and curriculum for the twice per year meetings to provide dealership train- ing in areas such as financial statement analysis, parts and service training, effective use of social media, and on-line marketing. With sixty members and growing, the Academy is pre- paring young men and women to be dealers of the future while at the same time instilling in them the importance of working together with NADA and TADA to speak with one voice as leaders of a vital industry.
