American Financial and Automotive Services is our partner in this award. Arden Hetland, owner of AFAS, along w/ Demetrios Lahiri, Sean Browning, Carl Harris, and Dennis Alexander are here today to honor our 2017 Legend. ATADALegend is someonewho reach- es outside of himself/herself and touches and influences others to go beyond their perceived or imagined limits. Such a per- son is inspirational as well as aspirational. This honor is given to someonewhonever stops. Someone who is never satisfied with where they are or with what they have done. There is always more to do. Past achievements are in the rear view mirror and this honor goes to a person who continues to look forward. TADA is privileged to honor amanwho is the personification of what we all strive to be. Joe Bob Kinsel continues to give to this industry and to his community – his selflessness is in his DNA. Today’s legend is a third generation TADA Chairman. Prior to his Chairmanship, he served on the TADA Ad Valorem Tax Committee; Future Dealers Advi- sory Committee; Building Committee; GMWarranty Study Committee; Auto Pac Committee; AutoCOMP Trustee/ Insurance Committee; AutoCOMP Loss Control & Underwriting Sub- Committee; Convention Planning Committee; Public Relations Commit- tee; and of course aTADA Director and Vice-Chairman and in 1991, theTADA Chairmanship. In1993hewas aTMQDAfinalist repre- senting Texas. Since 2001, Joe Bob con- tinues to be active in TADA’s leadership as the TADA LDF Chairman. This luncheon is special because todaywe celebrate and honor one of our own – a man who is dedicated to your industry. As with each TADA member, Joe Bob has his own special skill set: First, he is the personificationof the long, tall, cool Texan. He commands the attention of the room. When he speaks, you are driven to listen because he has something to say. He is full of wisdom and honor. He is also a good listener. He studies and strives to understand the twists and turns of the motor vehicle industry. He is fearless when called upon. His advice and friendship are a treasure. Joe Bob was TADA’s Chairman in 1991-1992 and like all TADA Chair- men, he is not allowed to step away from TADA. Each past active Chairman is an Honorary Lifetime Member of the TADA Board of Directors. His counsel is frequently sought. Joe Bob’s talent and ambition allowed him to make any career choice. Texas dealers are fortunate he chose to carry on his family’s legacy as a franchised dealer. To formally induct Joe Bob as the 17th TADA Legend, please welcome his three sons: Craig, Scott, and Todd. The TADA Legend is an award that recognizes those bigger than life dealers whohave contributed themost, not only to the industry but to the greater good. JoeBob is a perfect example of someone whohas created a legacy that extends far beyond himself and who perfectly fits the profile of a TADA Legend. Joe Bob’s philosophy is that to be suc- cessful in a business as complex and challenging as an automobile dealer- ship you have to stand on a thousand shoulders, those of your family, your employees, your customers and your friends. TADA and the dealers of Texas have stood on the shoulders of the Kinsel family for four generations, beginning with Ernest Kinsel who started the family business to Joe Bob Kinsel, Sr., then our honoree Joe Bob, Jr., and fourth generation dealer Craig, Joe Bob’s son. The first three generations of the Kinsel family have all led TADA as Chairmen of the TADA Board of Directors, and Craig Kinsel is cur- rently serving on the TADA Execu- tive Committee as a Vice Chairman. None of the Kinsels have ever sat on the sidelines but have been an integral part of the TADA leader- ship for decades. Joe Bob continues today as the Chairman of the TADA
