Pub. 57 2016-2017 Issue 4
34 F or seven years the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) has been engaging with our partners, stake- holders, the Legislature, and the public in an effort to improve upon the services we provide to all Texans. To date the “Two Steps, One Sticker” campaign, which eliminated the state’s familiar windshield inspection sticker, has been the most impactful change for the motoring public. OnMarch 6, 2017, we made a change for our other stakeholder groups as well; the TxDMVmotor vehicle industry licensing process has changed for all licensees across Texas. The Licensing, Administration, Consumer Relations, and Enforcement system, known as LACE, was replacedwith eLI- CENSING, a new self-service hub for viewing current license information and submitting motor vehicle and salvage license applications online. As with many other technical changes, paper processing was replaced with a faster, more convenient online system that is available 24/7. eLICENSING allows users online access to information that was previously only available by mailing, calling, or visiting a TxDMV office while also allowing TxDMV to better sup- port every motor vehicle industry licensee in the state through enhanced service. First-time applicants and existing licensees will be guided through the online process step-by-step. eLICENSING will result in fewer submission errors than the paper-based process and, in turn, support a faster and smoother path for the approval of initial license applications, renewals, and amendments. Additionally, system users will be able to track the progress of their applications and print copies of these documents for their records. Electronic copies of applications and related documents will also be available for download. By decreasing the time it takes to process a license applica- tion TxDMV will be able to provide faster initial approvals of licenses and faster renewals. This will result in greater convenience for our stakeholders. Everyone will see benefits from the new eLICENSING system including the ability to submit applications for motor vehicle licenses, renewals, and amendments electronically at any time. TxDMV automatically uploaded records for all current li- censees to the new eLICENSING system and established an eLICENSINGadministrator based on information previously provided toTxDMV. Information on your specific eLICENS- INGadministrator was distributed to business owners and their organization’s initial designated eLICENSINGadministrator. These eLICENSING administrators serve as the TxDMV point of contact for your business and have the ability to grant or remove system access for different eLICENSING users. Current licensees can request access from their designated eLICENSING administrator by visiting www.txdmv.gov/ eLICENSING. Licensees must have an email address on file with TxDMV to receive updates on and use the new eLICENSING system. As always, please contact TxDMVwith any questions or com- ments by phone at (888)DMV-GOTX (368-4689) or via email at MVDlicensing@TxDMV.gov. TxDMVappreciates your support for our programs as we work to improve the services we offer our stakeholders.
