8 U.S. Congressman Roger Williams ’ dealership in Weatherford joined the relief effort for Hurricane Harvey. Patty, Sabrina and J.J. Williams , the President and operators of the Weatherford Chrysler dealership, are all animal lovers who wanted to help the countless pets in the path of the hurricane to recover. Roger Williams Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM partnered with the Weatherford College Trucking Academy to “Fill the Semi”, and delivered supplies for pets and their owners in Southeast Texas. “We are proud to do our part to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey,”RogerWilliamsDealershipPresident PattyWilliams said.” And many of the victims have animals. We’ve seen the images on television of dogs, cats and other animals struggling to survive the heavy water. This is a relief effort designed to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey and their pets.” The programbegan onSeptember 1. Asemi-truckwas parked at the dealership at 1102 Washington Drive, Weatherford, Texas. Drop-off time was each day from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm. People were encouraged to drop and bring supplies specific to animals, including: • Collars; • Leashes; • Crates; • Pet food; • Towels; • Blankets; • Flea and tick prevention; • Food bowls; • Treats; • Toys; • Waste bags “Once the truck was filled, we immediately drove the supplies to the Houston area,”Williams continued. “It’s one more way to help the victims of this tragedy.” Greg Bruner , CEO of The Bruner Family of Dealerships in Stephenville and Early, organized a fundraising campaign to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. The Bruner Auto Family has committed tomatch dollar-for- dollar up to $5,000 donated to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts as part of a national initiative to assist dealerships and families who were impacted by the natural disaster. Once combined with all matching efforts, the funds provided by Bruner Auto Family will assist in raising up to $10,000 in relief funding. “After hearing and seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, I knew we needed to support the relief efforts in a big way. That’s why The Bruner Auto Family has joined with other dealership partners across the region to sup- port those impacted, and we urge our employees, customers, and all members of the community to donate today,” saidGreg Bruner, President of Bruner Auto Family. In a joint statement released September 1, Mark Scarpelli, NADAChairman, and Annette Sykora, NADA Foundation Chairman expressed a sincere call for collaboration during this difficult time, saying, “We dealers are competitive. We are survivors. We are fighters. But when it comes down to it, we are all members of one big family. And when one member of our family hurts, we always come together to help.” The Cavender cousins in San Antonio went over the top in their fundraising efforts for the Hurricane Harvey Victims. Bobby’s son, Rob Cavender heard that George Strait was planning to put on a concert to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey. Working with Strait’s agency in Nashville, Bobby, Bi l l y J r. , Stephen , St ua r t a nd R ick Cavender cont r ibuted $75,000 to help underwrite the concert which also featured performers Lyle Lovett, Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton. The SA Auto Dealers contributed an additional $20,000 toward the effort. All of the contributions went to Rebuild Texas (rebuildtx.org ) which had collected $44 million as of September 21, 2017. TheCavender AutoGroup also collected and delivered almost 3,000 diapers to the Texas Diaper Bank to further assist the victims of Harvey. The DeLaups, Williams, Kyrishes, Bruners and Caven- ders joined many other Texas dealers in raising money for the NADA Emergency Relief Fund or collecting supplies and cash to help their fellow Texans regain a normal life after the trauma and tragedy of one of na- ture’s most devastating events.   REBOUND HURRICANE HARVEY — CONTINUED FROM PAGE 7
