34 At the Movies With Marci Henna M arci Henna, the wife of longtime TADA leader and Past Chairman, Louis Henna, Jr., is the descendant of two generations of Texas Rang- ers and grew up on the family’s 1800’s era Texas Hill Country ranch near Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Eng- lish and enjoys foreign languages and reading southern literature. As a child, she also lived with the Wakamba in Kenya, East Africa, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and various Texas cities. Marci is now an accomplished writer and is currently experiencing great success with the first of her Fire- side, Texas series novels. When We Last Spoke has been adapted to the screen, and is currently showing at film festivals nationwide and awaiting a broadcast release date. Emmy Award-winning director, Joanne Hock co-wrote the screenplay and directed the film, which was co-produced by Rick Eldridge and Austin’s own Fred Miller. When We Last Spoke is set in 1966 Texas, where a lovable but quirky family deals with their fair share of hard times. Two resilient little girls take us on a journey of tears and laughter as they deal with being abandoned by their mother and the untimely death of their father. It’s love, laughter, wonderful music, down-home cook- ing and surprises, all with small-town charm. Fireside, Texas is a fictional location set in the Hill Country near Austin. Juliet (Darby Camp) and Evangeline (Chandler Head) are the two sisters who are raised by Ruby (Melissa Gilbert) and Walt (Corbin Bernsen),
