8 Nashs have a large presence in numerous charitable organizations in the Central Texas area. The most rewarding has been participating in the Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Christmas Parade the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Our dealership provides 70 trucks, which our employees drive in the parade, to collect unwrappedgifts for operationBlue Santa. But also important is the underwriting of annual fundraisers for organizations including — the Settlement Home, the Elizabeth Ann Seton Board, the Seton Development Board, the Junior League of Austin, the Helping Hand Home for Children, Dell Children’s Hospital, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Hospice Austin, Tarrytown United Methodist Church, Trin- ity Episcopal School, the Rise School, St. Francis School, Casis Elemen- tary School, and St. Matthews School. If you look back at your career and life, what would be three things that you have learned that you would pass onto a younger member within the auto industry? Being a third-generation dealer has put a lot on my shoulders, and I want to continue the tradition of excellence, integrity, and fairness that has been such a hallmark of Capitol Chevrolet for all these years. Taking care of our employees, our customers, and giving back to the community are at the top of my list of being successful. Whataresomeprofessionalmoments that make you the proudest? First is gainingmy family’s trust enough to become the dealer principal in De- cember 1997. Achieving Chevrolet’s Dealer of the Year award for the last few years has been a highlight. But becoming Chairman of TADAwas something I never envisioned, and it is very special since my father was a past Chairman. Following in his footsteps has meant the world tome—there have only been a few father/daughter chair- men in the history of TADA. If you could describe your best day in this business, what would it look like? Making all customers happy in every aspect, from purchase to service. Was there an “aha” moment in your career that defined you? I moved back to Austin in 1996 (from Houston), and joined the business. My boys were already living inAustin, and it was time for me to come home. I learned so much from my Dad. He always said to “treat the customer fairly” and “give back to the community.” Everything he taught me was in his head, not written down. He would “speak off the cuff,” not preparing what to say, but always being right on, always knowing right from wrong. His handshake and his word were his bond, unlike some people in business today. If there is one “aha,” it would be realizing that my response  INTERVIEW — CONTINUED FROM PAGE 7 to many situations is based on howmy dad would have responded. Describe your all-time favorite vehicle (it can be one you’ve owned or something on your wish list). What are you driving today? A Chevrolet Corvette has always been my dream vehicle. My father would never let me have one because they were always “for sale.” But in 1964, we did “share” one for a while, until I picked up too many boys after school, and the car was returned to the dealership lot to sell. Currently, I am driving a 2020 Chev- rolet Traverse, which has plenty of room for my five grandchildren to ride with me. What is your favorite way to spend your free time? Any unusual hobbies? Time spent being “Nana” to my five grandchildren is always on top ofmy list. I enjoy traveling. I am looking forward to my next trip in January 2020 to the Holy Land. When I can, I like to have a needlework project going. I just finished my fifth grandchild’s Christmas stock- ing. Spending time with family and friends is always important to me. Tell us about your family. T and his wife Taylor are parents to 6 ½-year-old twin boys, Tommy and Ferrell. Will and his wife Mary have the girls, Flora (10 years), Lucy (5 years), and Penelope (2 ½ years). I am grateful to have my brother Chuck Nash and his wife Elizabeth, and my three married nieces close by. The auto industry has been good to our family. It’s been such a joy. We all love the business. We work hard, but get to play hard as well. When I was little, I remember seeingDinah Shore sing the Chevrolet jingle on TV. I loved it, and can still hear the lyrics in my head. As a family, we have spent generations, “seeing the USA in our Chevrolet!” 
