26 TADA STAFF: Known as the human abacus, slide rule, or calculator, Bill is a master with numbers ranging from new vehicle sales figures, the amount of revenue generated by the franchised dealer, to the number of yards the quarterback in Katy passed at the last football game. His love for sports, especially track, is known by anyone who has been with him for more than 10 minutes. Bill can wax on about this topic for hours — nonstop. Another subject for which he never tires is his admiration for the fran- chised dealer. From Bill’s days with Ford to his 37 years with TADA, Bill’s commitment to this industry has been his daily and much-loved routine. His optimism is infectious; his show- ering of compliments is expected; and his presence is missed. Karen Phillips, TADA Bill is one of the Greatest Assets that the Dealers of Texas could ever have. He was instrumental in getting the new TADA World Headquarters built and increased the net worth of the Association to over 8 million dollars. Bill is everyone’s friend (except Elon Musk), knows everything about the economic impact of the Dealers of Texas, high school sports and track & field. No one deserves more accolades and praise for what TADA has ac- complished during his time here. He was the best boss that anyone could have, and, now that he is retired, I am proud to call him my mentor and friend. Albert Ploch, TADA I would like to thank Bill for his encour- agement and support over the years. He was an exceptional boss who had not only the Dealers’ interest in mind but, the TADA staff as well. Never forget the difference you’ve made. You can’t retire from being FABULOUS! Kathy Sims, TADA The Best Boss Ever! 25 years ago, when I first joined TADA, I was hired to work in the insurance department with several field staff employees. TADA eventually dissolved that department, and everyone was let go to find other employment except me, and I owe it all to Bill Wolt- ers. To this day, I feel truly blessed that he believed in me in a way that created many other opportunities so that I could continue my career with TADA. Bill is the most thoughtful and caring person I know; he truly wants to make sure that you do well so that life is just a little bit easier. Bill has always been there for my family and me, whether it was cheering me on for my first Austin mara- thon, being a chauffeur for my daughter and her husband at a late-night charity event, attending my grandkids sporting events or supporting me throughout my youngest grandson’s health issues. My three girls, their husbands, and chil- dren truly appreciate him and consider him a part of the family. I’m very thankful to have worked for and with him all these years and even more blessed now to call him my friend. He will be dearly missed, but with all my heart, I wish him a retirement full of fun and adventure. Cheers to the Best Boss Ever! Penny Thomas, TADA Bill, The hard work, energy, and time that you have selflessly devoted to our dealers and the auto industry are amazing. You are admired and loved by many! You also truly care about the TADA staff, which motivates us to be better. You’re always ready to share a compliment, tell a great story, or bring a treat to the office from a newly discovered hip Austin eatery! Thanks for being you. You are the best boss, mentor, and friend anyone could ask for. Janet Hale, TADA I have not officed on the same floor with Bill during my time here at TADA. So, running into him in the kitchen or a hallway is a treat. Bill might share a story about a dealer, or we might celebrate (or commiserate) over our Texas Longhorns. Whatever the topic, I walk away with a smile on my face because we shared a good laugh. Bill is a great storyteller, and he brightens up each day of the week. Elizabeth Gardner, TADA Bill has dedicated most of his life as an advocate, advisor, and friend to fran- chised auto dealers across Texas, as well as to his coworkers and staff, and will no doubt continue to do so in his retirement. TADA has enjoyed so many successes during Bill’s presidency and leadership, to which he deserves immeasurable credit. As just one staff member, as for my pro- fessional growth and successes, I can’t imagine the past 30 years without Bill’s leadership, mentorship, and friendship.
